What is it?

Marine Mechanic (Serimala) is a program accredited by Department of Skill Development (DSD) under Ministry of Human Resource.

This is a program focusing on a career as a Marine Mechanic.

It is a package program with “Ready to Work” concept. Trainees will be trained with subjects related to work as an engine rating.

Trainees will also be provided with documents and certificates needed to work in ships and oil & gas platforms

What are the career prospects?

With this course, trainees will have the opportunity to work as a rating in the Engine Department on local or international ships.

What do participants get in this course?

As well as learning all relevant tasks and associated duties of a Marine Mechanic, participants will also gain the following:

1. Full Medical Checkup
2. Seaman Card
3. Discharge Book
4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
5. Basic Safety Training STCW ’95 certificate
6. Tanker Familiarization certificate
7. Basic Rigging and Slinging certificate.
8. Marine Mechanic Serimala Level I Malaysia Skill Certificate.

What are the entry requirements?

Entry requirements to enter this course are:

• 17years old and above.
• Have good physical and mental condition
• SPM
• Interested to work on a ship.
• Discipline

How long is course?

Duration of the course is 6 (Six) months.

How do participants finance the course fee?

Participants can finance their study personally or apply for loan from PTPK.
